Ningura moved from her desert birthplace with her husband, the wellknown artist Yala Tala Gibbs Tjungurrayi, and commenced painting for Papunya Tula in 1996. She paints her country which is south west of Kiwirrkura in the Gibson Desert of Western Australia.
Ningura has brilliant control over the acrylic medium, creating textural works with striking colour contrasts that grow organically over the canvas coming to life infront of the viewer. Her work is represented in important state galleries around Australia, as well as the interior of the Musee du Quai Branley in Paris. She is an incredibly talented, highly respected and collectable artist.
