Makinti started painting in the late 1990's and became one of the most impressive and prolific female artists to come out of the Papunya Tula Art community receiving critical acclaim for her work. Her striking, contemporary interpretation of her Dreamings saw her win the prestigious Telstra Art Award in 2008.
Her works are bright, captivating and expressive, showing her deep understanding and connection to her culture and country. They are often reminiscent of the ceremonial body-paint adorned by the women. Makinti's paintings feature in public and private collections throughout the world.
