Thomas arrived out of the desert with seven relatives in 1984, making international headlines as "The Last Nomads", having never seen white man before. Until this time Thomas and his brothers and fellow artists Walala and Warlimpirrnga lived a traditional nomadic existence. The subject of his paintings is Tingari cycle, a series of sacred, mythological songs that are associated with his Dreaming site of Wanapatangu.
