Aboriginal artist, Naata Nungurrayi, began painting for Papunya Tula artists in 1996, and quickly became one of the most significant female artists in the Aboriginal Acrylic Art Movement, enjoying a great deal of success over her working life. 

The bulk of her work is typified by the traditional dotting techniques synonymous with Australian Aboriginal art, however  towards the end of her working career she started to move away from the intricate dotting and leant instead into the iconography of her ancestors to portray topographical and ceremonial information.  This Iconography Collection represents one of the most significant bodies of Aboriginal artworks since the Papunya boards of the early 1970's, which were instrumental in the inception of the acrylic art movement as a whole.

These later pieces are large paintings and stunning in their simplicity, consisting solely of black lines on a vivid red background.  They're some of Naata's most highly sought after pieces as she only painted a very limited amount in this style.  

This painting also comes with a copy a book covering the development of Naata's Iconography collection, as well as all relevant documentation. If you're looking for a statement piece you will not find many better than this.
