Creation of My Mother's Country

Babara Weir is the daughter of Minnie Pwerle, one of Utopias most well known and respected artists who remains one of the most collectable and well respected women artists in Australia. A victim of the stolen generation, Barbara was taken from her family as a young child and assimilated into white society.

This is a unique style from Barbara - rather than simply painting this dreaming, Barbara  incorporated the actual soil and earth of the red centre into its incredibly textured finish.  We've only seen a couple of these incredible paintings, and mark them as something very special.
