She eventually settled in Kintore soon after the community’s inception in the early 1980’s. Pantjiya and her late husband, George Maxwell Jangala (another Papunya artist) had 5 sons and 3 daughters, several of whom have become significant artists in their own right. She has many grandchildren. Pantjiya is a peaceful, wise and well-respected woman in her community.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePantjiya is the ‘sister’ of Shorty Lungkata Tjungurrayi whose mother married Tjurti after the death of Shorty’s father.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003ePantjiya started painting for Papunya Tula in 1998 and developed a distinctive style featuring the ‘knitted’ drawing imagery that many other women artists have followed.
